Our project was presented by VHS Cham at the conference "Weiterbildungsangebote für Bildungspersonal in der Erwachsenenbildung" / Further education offers for educational staff in adult education sector“ in Bonn between 18th and 19th of November. The conference was organised by National Agency “Bildung für Europa” (NA beim BIBB)/ together with German Institute for Adult Education.

Multiplier seminar 24 - 25 of September 2008

In September 2008, Multiplier seminar took place in Cham, Germany. The Multiplier seminar was organised by VHS Cham and project partners. The Multiplier seminar closed officially our project, the seminar was an occassion to show and spread project' products to all other EU countries that did not take part in our project. Our partnership invited the representatives of other adult education institiutions, stakeholders of adult education, language teachers and trainers and also senior learners.

Together with representatives of adult education from Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, France, Latvia, Poland, Portugal and Romania we have shared e.g. ideas on the challenges in educational work with the target group, aspects of ageing, or how can we use the project's outcomes in our organisations.

Language course Teaching Methods for Senior Citizens

Within confines of our project the training courses "Teaching Methods for Senior Citizens" were conducted. The training course content was based on the common work of the partnership, the trainings were proceded by the pilot test course in 2007 in Sweden.

Training course in Montpellier, 2 -6 June 2008

The second session of the training course in 2008, took place in Montpellier, France. The training was hosted by partner institution IRFA Sud. Language trainers and teachers from Belgium, Finland, Sweden, France and Germany participated in the course.



Training course in Munich, 7-11 April 2008

In April 2008, our trainers' team conducted the training course in Munich. Participants from Czech Republic, France, Sweden and Spain took a part in the training. The training took place in Bavarian Association for Adult Education (BVV).

The training course was an opportunity for exchange of experiences and knowledge among language teachers and trainers. The participants and trainers could pass over knowledge and skills which are needed for successful teaching of senior learners and additionally they could develop new ideas of teaching applicable to our target group - senior learners.

Our trainers' team

Dr. Martin Persson is a psychologist and project coordinator at Folkuniversitetet in Sweden, a foundation that focus upon adult education. He specializes in working with disadvantaged groups in a national and international perspective with a particularly focus upon psychology, social science and health. He has a Ph.D. in Medicine, Masters Degrees in Public Health and Psychology.

Helmut Kronika is the Head of International Projects Department at BEST Institute for Vocational Education and Personnel Training Ltd in Vienna and has been working in adult education for more than 15 years. He is experienced in didactic design and content development and has a background in foreign language teaching for adults in VET. He has been particularly active in designing and carrying out several innovative training measures for language learners.

Roman Vecerka from Czech Republic: “Since five years I’ve been teaching a variety of learners Czech and German as a foreign language. From exchange students at university to senior learners who learn languages for leisure. Furthermore, I´m a translator and teach how to write texts. Working with people, languages and texts is more than just a profession for me."

Mona Dierfeld is a translator and experienced English and computing teacher, who has worked for the VHS Cham and other adult education institutes since 1994. She is 49 years old, mother of 3 children and grandmother of 2.5 grandchildren. Being a “senior citizen” herself and having offered courses like this several times she is especially well versed in this topic.
